Pals for Paws
is a non-profit organization committed
to solving the dog and cat overpopulation in New Bern, North Carolina, and
the surrounding areas. We are accomplishing this through education and a unique, low-cost
spay/neuter program,
"Prevent-A-Litter". Pals for Paws works today to prevent tomorrow’s
unwanted litters from being born. In
addition to our spay/neuter efforts, we are also dedicated to the New
Leash On Life Program. This program puts prisoners, dogs, and a trainer
together for eight to nine weeks of training. The dogs are placed in
their new adoptive home upon graduation.
As of 2002, we have been making a
difference for pets in Craven County and beyond.
Each year over
5,000 dogs/cats/puppies/kittens are euthanized by animal control. Most
of these animals were healthy and adoptable. There are simply not enough homes
for them. Our goal is to reduce the number of surplus animals by
preventing unnecessary births.
